Job Summary:National Power is seeking an experienced Lead Solar Technician. The Lead Solar Technician is responsible for leading, supervising, and mentoring field crews in the installation, maintenance, and repair of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. This role involves working with various tools and equipment to ensure the efficient and safe operation of solar energy systems. The Lead Solar Technician will work closely with other team members, including electricians, engineers, and project managers, to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget and according to safety regulations.Key Responsibilities:Lead, supervise, and mentor field crews in the installation of solar PV systems, including civil, electrical, and mechanical scopesOversee trenching, excavation, conduit installation, and backfilling according to project specifications and safety requirementsManage and inspect the installation of DC wiring, module installation, combiner boxes, inverters, and AC electrical infrastructure (including transformer and switchgear installations)Read, interpret, and implement construction drawings, schematics, and electrical diagrams to guide field installationCoordinate daily work schedules, deliveries, inspections, and crew assignments to meet project timelinesMaintain accurate daily reports, job logs, and time tracking for field crewsCollaborate closely with site management, engineers, quality control personnel, and subcontractors to address field issues and changesConduct daily safety meetings and enforce strict safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and harnessesEnsure compliance with all relevant codes (NEC, OSHA, etc.), site safety standards, and environmental regulationsQualifications:7+ years of solar installation experience, including 5+ years in a supervisory roleProven experience in civil construction, especially trenching, excavation, and conduit installationStrong technical knowledge of DC systems (string wiring, combiner boxes, grounding) and AC systems (panels, transformers, grid tie-ins)Ability to interpret and implement electrical and civil construction drawingsSolid understanding of OSHA and site safety protocolsStrong problem-solving and communication skillsProficient in managing subcontractors and field labor personnelValid driver's license and reliable transportation are requiredPreferred Qualifications:OSHA 30 Certification, CPR/First Aid CertifiedExperience working on utility-scale solar projects (up to 10MW)Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plusProficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive) and Bluebeam for plan markupsPhysical Requirements:Ability to work at heights on rooftops and other elevated structuresCapability to work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and rainPhysical stamina to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials, up to 75 poundsGood hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to handle tools and equipmentAbility to climb ladders and scaffolding, and maintain balance while working on elevated surfacesFrequent bending, stooping, and kneeling Prolonged periods of standing and walking on uneven surfacesGood visual acuity to read technical drawings and manuals, and to perform detailed workWork Environment:The role involves working outdoors on rooftops and other elevated structures, which may expose the technician to varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and windCompensation & Benefits:$35.00 - $40.00 per hour.
