Job Title: Director of Engineering

Location: Remote

Job Summary: The Director of Engineering will lead and oversee the engineering department, ensuring the successful execution of projects, the development of innovative solutions, and the continuous improvement of engineering processes. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Management: Provide direction and leadership to the engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence. Mentor and develop team members, ensuring their professional growth and alignment with company goals.
  • Project Oversight: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects, ensuring they meet quality standards, timelines, and budget constraints. Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of engineering solutions.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement engineering strategies that align with the company's overall objectives. Identify opportunities for technological advancements and process improvements.
  • Technical Expertise: Stay current with industry trends and advancements, ensuring the engineering team is equipped with the latest tools and knowledge. Provide technical guidance and support to team members as needed.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including product management, marketing, and operations, to ensure engineering solutions meet business needs and customer expectations.
  • Budget Management: Manage the engineering budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and projects are completed within financial constraints.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain quality assurance processes to ensure the highest standards of engineering work. Conduct regular reviews and audits to identify areas for improvement.
  • Compliance Management: Managing various state licensing requirements to ensure compliance with local regulations and standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within an engineering department.
  • Strong technical background with expertise in relevant engineering disciplines.
  • Excellent project management skills, with a track record of successfully delivering complex projects.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement innovative solutions.
  • Experience with budget management and resource allocation.

Preferred Skills:

  • Possession of a Professional Engineer (PE) License.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific software and tools.
  • Experience with agile methodologies and project management frameworks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
