Position Summary
The Fleet Maintenance Associate assists with inspections, preventive maintenance, and basic repairs on diesel trucks and heavy equipment. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals looking to start or grow a career in fleet maintenance, working under the direction of experienced technicians and shop leadership.
Essential Functions:
Assist with the inspection of brake systems, engines, emissions, steering, and wheel assemblies to ensure safe operation.
Perform basic preventive maintenance (PM) including oil, tire, and brake services.
Participate in training and development programs to build mechanical skills.
Support DOT, PM, and brake/safety inspections under supervision.
Complete assigned work orders and maintain accurate repair documentation.
Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
Demonstrate basic understanding of hydraulic systems.
Education, Training & Experience:
2 – 3 years of related mechanical or technician experience preferred.
Basic knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and federal safety regulations.
Ability to use diagnostic tools and basic computer systems.
CDL Class A or B preferred, or ability to obtain within 6 months.
ASE certifications a plus; ongoing certification encouraged.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, push/pull up to 100 lbs.
Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in various shop conditions.
Capable of operating trucks or shop equipment as needed.
